"A Pee Dee River Journal" book
Authored by Wadesboro, North Carolina, resident Joe Liles, this easy reading journal chronicles his April 1996 trip that covers 200 miles over 9 days down the Great Pee Dee River to its terminus at Winyah Bay, Georgetown, South Carolina. Putting in his canoe just below the Blewett Falls dam near Rockingham, NC, Joe recalls how this primitive experience renewed and bonded the relationship between him and his young son Joseph. Not a true river guide book, this journal nonetheless points out significant features and landmarks encountered during his daily passages. Nicely illustrated with the author's own pencil sketches including a schematic map.
