Paddling at the Edge of a Maritime Forest that Surrounds the Saltwater Marsh Creeks of Murrells Inlet and Huntington Beach State Park

Huntington Beach Salt Marsh Kayak Tour
10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Half day guided kayak tour of the salt marsh creeks of Murrells Inlet. Meet at the old entrance to Huntington Beach State Park across Hwy. 17 from Brookgreen Gardens. Call our store at (843) 546-4840 to make required advance reservation.

From our meeting place, you will follow us down a dirt road through the trees to Oyster Shell Landing where we will launch our kayaks following a brief safety talk and paddling instruction. Paddle through spartina cordgrass marshes and creeks, past mysterious Drunken Jack Island, reputed to hold the treasures of the pirate Black Beard, and stop ashore on the sandy dunes of Huntington Beach State Park for a break. See bald eagles, sea turtles, wading shore birds and oyster catchers, maybe even porpoise and sting rays, that inhabit the ecotone between sand dunes and maritime forest. After relaunching our kayaks, we will circle back to our starting point.
