Touring One of the Many Creeks Meandering Through the Blackwater Cypress-Tupelo Swamps of the Black River

Black River Cypress Tupelo Swamp Kayak Tour
10:00 am to 3:45 pm

Half day guided kayak tour of Black River Swamp Preserves. Meet at Black River Outdoors Center in Georgetown. Call our store at (843) 546-4840 to make required advance reservation.

You will follow our van in your vehicle to a landing on the Black River or one of its tributaries (about 20-30 minute drive). After a brief safety talk and paddling instruction, we will paddle the clear black waters that ebb and flow through wilderness cypress-tupelo swamps to hidden ponds and islands. We will stop ashore on an island or on a sandbar (depending on river depth) for a break. We will then circle back to our starting point or continue to another landing downriver. Watch for ducks, owls, beaver and otters, alligators, kingfisher, deer, spider lilies, ibis and wood storks, swallow-tail kites, wild turkeys, and swamp canaries.
