Touring One of the Many Creeks Meandering Through the Blackwater Cypress-Tupelo Swamps of the Black River

Black Mingo Creek Swamp Kayak Tour
10:00 am to 2:00 pm
(Closed group tour for Boy Scout Troop 34.)

Half day guided kayak tour of Black Mingo Creek and Swamp. Meet at Mingo Landing, 1¾ miles north of Backwoods Quail Club, northeast side of Hwy. 51/41 bridge. Contact Dean Hirschy at tel. (704) 578-0832 to make required advance reservation.

After a brief safety talk and paddling instruction, we will paddle the clear black waters that ebb and flow through wilderness cypress-tupelo swamps to hidden ponds and islands. We will stop ashore for a lunch break. We will then circle back to our starting point downriver. Watch for ducks, owls, beaver and otters, alligators, kingfisher, deer, spider lilies, ibis and wood storks, swallow-tail kites, wild turkeys, and swamp canaries.
